Most orphans residing at Wammy's would shudder at the mere thought of sneaking out. The wrath of Roger is one to be reckoned with, as most would think, yet this did not stop Matty, and his parter-in-crime, Mello. The idea hit Matt quite quickly, and without remorse he suggested this plan to his friend, instantly the plan was put into action. "I'll meet you in ten minutes by the front gate." Matt muttered as he exited the boys room, carrying his small laptop in a messenger bag and some pocket change in his hand. The walk to the garage took only a few moments, and Matt quickly found the switch box to the gate, he opened it, stuck the wires in and started to program the gate. 'Really, Roger? I would've figured that you would have put at least a firewall up on this thing?' Matt tsked, jammed the gate open enough for a bike and a half to zoom through, and walked towards the grate. "Let the fun begin"
As he approached the gate he made sure to check around for any witnesses, and luckily there were none. If anything were to happen to foil their most genius escape -to date- Matt was sure he would pitch a Mello-worthy fit. Matt was restless, being stuck in the same house for months at a time was just too much for him, he needed to get out, and the shopping center seemed like a perfect place to stretch his legs, play some video games, and of course marvel at the new gaming system that just came out, he just really hoped that Mello would get the hint that he was supposed to bring his dirt bike, for such a princess he sometimes was the boy sure loved cars. Who cares if they both weren't old enough to drive? They were bored as hell. "Well, time to wait." and with that Matt grabbed his game boy color and started training his pokemon, all the while slightly hiding in a bush by the gate.

Mello took one last glance at himself in the dresser mirror in his and Matt's shared room. He was going out after all, something neither boy had done in quite awhile. Wearing mostly all black, as usual, he grabbed his leather jacket from the chair by the door before exiting, pulling his shades from the breast pocket. The click of his heeled boots echoed down the corridor leading to the to door to the courtyard where he and Matt would make their escape. Quickly glances around the corner for any lingering children, he walked briskly outside and made his way over to the woods behind the garage. Matt was probably expecting him to bring his bike. He saw Matt clearly trying to be discreet, hiding among foliage. It was an okay hiding spot, but the red-head's eyes were glazed over, staring at his hand'held game's screen, completely unaware of anything happening around him. Mello chuckled to himself as he followed the path back through the trees to wear he kept his stolen bike, a souvenir from their last escape from the Wammy "prison." He quickly found what he was looking for and began pushing it back up the hill and along the other side of the garage. Of course, starting it and riding up would have been easier, but that wouldn't have been very secretive, now would it? When he walked around the corner, Matt was still submerged into his game. "Hey, Stripes, you ready to go, or would you rather go back inside and shine Roger's gleaming head all day?" Leaning against the wall, he grinned behind the reflection of his sunglasses.

Matt looked up when he heard the distinct sound of crunching gravel up the driveway and smiled. Of course Mello had to fit himself into some insane leather get up. "Hey, Stripes, you ready to go, or would you rather go back inside and shine Roger's gleaming head all day?" Matt stared blankly at Mello for a moment, half listening, his pikachu was just about to evolve into Raichu, and this battle needed serious attending to. He smirked once the Blond's words sunk in. "I've been ready, dear Mello. Or should i say Melly, especially in that outfit. Trying to pick up the Village People?" Matt couldn't hide the smile that played on his face, he stood up and quickly pocketed his game boy. "I jammed the gate for a few minutes, so we better get going now. Try not to kill us this time though. I still have a scar to prove how great your driving is." Matt mumbled the last sentence under his breath and headed out of the gate, adjusting the goggles over his auburn locks to cover his eyes. He glanced at the blonde as he pulled the dirtbike along with him. "Maybe we should start it at the end of the hill? Hop on now and ride it out till it's safe to start it?" Even though this wasn't their first time ditching Wammy's, Matt was nervous. Of course he'd never let Mello know it. With the edge of getting caught it was also a cheap thrill to him. He fidgeted slightly waiting for Mello's decision.

Mello's grin turned into a smug glare after Matt's "Village People" comment, but he soon got over it. He pushed the bike along the line of trees behind the garage towards the exit alongside Matt. "Yeah, that's what I intend on doing. Wouldn't want the old geezer to hear something..." Mello recalled the last time they snuck out. They didn't have the bike when they had left the orphanage, so they had stolen some kid's bicycle. He and Matt had thrown it over the fence, followed by climbing over after it. Mello had stood on the back while Matt pedaled down into town. It was such a beautiful morning too. Couldn't have been better. [FLASHBACK TIME] They got into town and fooled around for a while, bought some cigarettes, got hit on by older women, y'know, the usual. They didn't even notice the storm clouds rolling in until it was too late. The wind and the rain were too much for a simple biyccle to take, so they stole a dirtbike that was parked in an alleyway and stepped on it, Mello driving, Matt on the back. When it rains, Roger calls all the children back inside to stay dry; if they didn't hurry, he would notice they were missing... Mello flew up the curving hills towards Wammy's House, pushing the limits of the bike. They came around a particularly tight corner. Going way too fast, they hydroplaned for a millisecond. Mello tried to compensate the weight on the other side by leaning and layed the bike right down. They both slid into a ditch next to the road. The bike rolled a little ways down the hillside. Mello vividly remembers opening his eyes and sitting up to a pain in his back. He knew he would be alright, probably just a bruise. He could usually stand a lot of pain and injury anyway. Then he suddenly became aware again that he was not alone. His eyes frantically scanned the hillside and ditch. "Matt...." His best friend was lying a little further down the hill. By the looks of it, he was unconscious. Trying not to panic, he slid down the wet grass. There was blood streaming down the side of Matt's face. There was also was looked to be blood soaking through his torn shirt shirt across his chest. "Oh my God, Matt, MATT! Wake up! Oh God, wake up!" He removed the goggles from his head, trying not to move his neck too much. His eyes were still shut. Mello somehow managed to carefully drag Matt back up the hill. He nestled him in a bed of grass while he went down and brought the bike back up. Now he really had to hurry. The damage on the bike wasn't too bad, so he got on and was able to prop his friend up in front of him. Mello Could feel the warm blood through Matt's shirt and started to panic. He increased his speed up the hill again, not even stopping to get over the back gate; he just drove right through it. Ditching the bike in the woods, he practically carried Matt to the house. He snuck in straight to the bathroom where he was able to clean his friend up and bring him back to consciousness. Matt still has a scar across his chest from the crash. It was the thing in life that Mello regretted the most and he swore to his friend that he would never let anything bad happen to him ever again. [OOC: Oh God, if they only knew D':] [BACK TO PRESENT] These thoughts were going through Mello's head as they reached the back gate (which had since then been repaired.) Mello got on just outside of the gate, walking it out towards the road. He looked back. "Well, hop on." Mello said a quick prayer to himself.

[OOC: the scar to later bring on the gay sex? ;D kekeke. ohlawd jk ] Matt hopped on the back of the bike and adjusted slightly, grasping onto Mello's shoulders. Matt pushed off the bike and it started to slowly roll down the hill. Once at the end Mello flawlessly started the engine and they took off, speeding quickly on the dirt road. Trees blew by them quickly and as they passed the accident site, Matt quickly shut his eyes, pushing the foggy memories out of his head. His hand had easily found the scar on his chest, and he rubbed it till the slight anxiety filling his head had gone away. *at the mall-hurrhurr* Mello stopped the dirt bike in a far corner of the parking lot, thankfully no police had seen them, and they made it safely to the mall.Matt scanned the parking lot, the mall that they were at did seem pretty empty, and if they walked across the street there was an old cinema that looked like it was still in business. The possibilities were endless for the two boys today, who care if Roger caught them? Nobody else at Wammy's had nearly as much gall as they did when it came to bending the rules. "Holy L! we're still alive!" Matt shouted as he escaped the confines of the dirt bike seat. "Would it be inappropriate if I were to kiss the ground, Mello?" An evil grin hid behind the words, and Mat readjusted his goggles to their favorite position, over his hair of course. " If the GameStop doesn't have that new consule that came out today, I might just dieeeeeee" he whined mellodramatically.

"Yeah, yeah. We're here. Jeez, Matt, you make it sound like I'm a horrible driver or something. I've been practicing all the time ever since....since last time. But anyway, the chocolate Roger keeps buying is okay, but what I need is some seriously rich chocolate..." His eyes scanned the strip for his favorite chocolate shoppe. "Anyways, let's go." They started walking across the parking. Though they were not quite fifteen, they looked a lot older than they biologically were. For instance, Mello's shoulder's had begun to push against his slim jacket, as did his chest. His lean muscles showed moreso now through his tight pants. And Matt was growing like a weed, his voice sounding more man-like all the time. He had such an effortless attractiveness that Mello could never overlook, as strange as that may be. He envied his natural ability to look good all the time, but of course Mello would never let Matt know any of this, ever. Time is such a strange thing. They reached the other side of the parking lot and were standing in front of some sort of overpriced gift shop. "Okay, go do you're gaming shit. I have some grocery shopping to do. Meet back here in a half hour." He turned on his heels and headed towards the chocolate shoppe. "Don't talk to strangers, Matt!" He called over shoulder.

"Yeah, yeah. We're here. Jeez, Matt, you make it sound like I'm a horrible driver or something. I've been practicing all the time ever since....since last time." Matt fidgeted uncomfortably, almost forgetting how bad Mello felt about the accident. Matt didn't want him to feel bad though, he was fine, in fact they were both still intact. It's not like Mello could have controlled the weather that day.
Matt located some smokers sitting around the aptly named "butt hutt" which was a wooden covered pagoda outside of the mall. A few 20-somethings were casually smoking about, hanging over the benches placed there for convienience. " I need cigarettes." he half whined to himself, biting his lower lip in frustration. "But the new game systemmmmm. " He growled and slid his hands over his face. Clearly this boy was making a life-altering desicion.
"Don't talk to strangers, Matt!" Matt heard this, let his filter through his mind and decided to ignore it.
"Yeahh, yeahh." he muttered as he headed towards the butt hutt nd managed to snag a few cigarettes from the generous youths. "Thanks guys." Matt quickly walked to the game store, his mission completed and meandered about. He shook his head as the sales clerk tried to answer some of his questions, clearly not knowing a single thing about ANY gaming platform. Ignoring the sick feeling in his stomach from the clerks ignorance Matt silently paid for the new platform and a few games for it and walked out. He glanced at his watch 'Ten more minutes, this sucks. Meh, i'll just wait for Mello back there.' with that MAtt meandered back to the edge of the parking lot.

Mello walked into the shoppe. The smell of rich cocoa filled his nostrils and his mouth began to water. Of course, the jovial woman behind the counter was offering free samples of new flavors. Free stuff always made Mello feel better about himself. It felt good to be able to take something without paying for it when he actually had permission. Mello didn't particularly like stealing, but he didn't hesitate to when it was necessary. Anyways, he popped the Irish cream filled chocolate shapes into his mouth. Decadent. He bought a box. Then he bought a box of dark bars, which he was out of. As he was on his way out of the chocolate wonderland, he spotted a lollipop in the shape of a little red muscle car. Matt always made ridiculous statements about how he would own a fast, red car in the future. So Mello went back to counter and bought it silently for his friend, hoping to tease him about his car dreams later on. Mello walked out of the store and scanned the strip for Matt. He saw him sitting on the curb next to the bike. He must have found some generous nicotine addicts, Mello notices as a ring of smoke spiraled upwards from Matt's mouth. He strided towards the bike and his friend. There was a rather large package sitting on the ground next to him. Of course it was a new gaming system. "Matt.....how in the hell did you get the money to buy that? Y'know what, actually I'd rather not know..." He rolled his eyes and sat down on the curb next to Matt. It was during silent moments like this that Mello's mind would wander into the future. He would try to imagine what his life would be like. Of course, he wanted more than anything to be L's successor, that was a given. But where would he live? Would he stay at Wammy's like L? No. He could never stay there. Mello was definitely going to out of there as soon as he was old enough. What if he didn't become L's successor? He has spent his whole life (so far) on pursuing that dream, the only dream he's ever had. What if it never came true? He couldn't think of anything else he could live for. He shot Matt a sideways glance. Matt. His best friend. He wasn't very interested in succeeding L. As far as Mello knew, it barely ever crossed the red-head's mind. It was too full of falling colored bricks fitting perfectly together and little mustached men climbing through pipes. Mello thought of what would happen to Matt. Where would he go once he was old enough to leave. Would he leave? Mello winced. He had been left too many times before, felt that pain too many times. He couldn't handle another. No. They had to stick together. Mello realized this fact at that very moment. He grinned over at his gamer best-friend. The only person other than L who truly got to know him. "Hey, let's get out of here."

OOC: Mello's so deep and matt's thoughts are just so simple. XD sometimes i'm not sure he thinks Matt breathed out a frustrated sigh, he didn't like waiting, so instead he lit a cigarette and inhaled with pleasure. He sighed happily, feeling quite content where he was , a new gaming console, out of Wammy's and with his best friend. On top of that he was enjoying a cigarette, and a menthol one at that. Matt hated how baking the poor innocent tobacco ruined it's lovely natural mint flavor. "Matt.....how in the hell did you get the money to buy that? Y'know what, actually I'd rather not know..." Matt chuckled. "I'll still tell you anyway. Three words. Hacking promo codes. Didn't even have to pay for this baby." he patted his new prized possession with pride and leaned back on the curb, using his elbows to prop himself up. Matt took another drag, let the smoke filter through his lungs and then puffed out a smoke ring. He watched it float gently in the air around the two boys. "Cool, right? Learned how to do it earlier." He puffed out another ring, this one smaller and faster, and it soared through its larger friend quickly. Matt looked at his friend for approval like a lost puppy 'No wonder they call me Mello's lap dog, I'm always looking for him to be watching me. heh. Oh well, let them think whatever they want' Matt closed his eyes and breathed in another puff. "Hey, let's get out of here." Matt grimaced."I was actually thinking about causing some trouble here. Ya know, just screwing with their video cameras or something. Don't want to end the day on a clean slate."Yet some people thought it was always Mello getting them into trouble.

[OOC: yeah haha deep and brooding def XD ] "Yeah, hahaha, you have way too much time on your hands, Matty. I guess we could stick around this particular place-that-is-not-Wammy's for a while. Might as well. God knows we have nothing better to do..." Mello stood up and stretched a little. Even though he had only been sitting on the curb for a few minutes, he felt the need to remind his muscles how to function correctly. He looked out across the parking lot again. There were quite a few cars parked, but none near them. I guess it wouldn't hurt to hack into the security systems and have a little fun. [OOC: I typed "gun" on accident lmfao] Mello gazed down at Matt, who was just sitting motionless, the only movement coming from the smoke swirling around his head. He seemed so carefree all the time. Mello was somewhat envious. Nevertheless, he wasn't going to just sit around all day after they went through so much trouble to break out. It was getting warmer as the sun rose higher, and Mello's leather jacket was starting to feel twice as heavy. He took it off and laid it across the back of the bike. Runinng his fingers through a particularly bothersome knot in his hair, he got an idea that would make the day a hell of a lot more interesting. "Alright Matty, today I'm not calling the shots. I really don't care what we do, as long as it's something, heh. So, me being the generous person that I am, have decided to let you choose what we do today." He grinned.

[OOC: but a little gun causes great fun! you shoulda put that! ] "Yeah, hahaha, you have way too much time on your hands, Matty. I guess we could stick around this particular place-that-is-not-Wammy's for a while. Might as well. God knows we have nothing better to do..."
"Good, good. I really don't want to go back there right now, totally not in the mood to deal with the cottonball." Matt shivered as he mentioned the albino genius. He watched Mello strip and looked at him curiously. "Looks over comfort?" So, me being the generous person that I am, have decided to let you choose what we do today." Matt grined when he heard this. "Wow, I feel so honoured."Matt cracked his knuckles and his neck, preparing for the trouble they were about to cause. One last drag of his smoke and he was ready to go. " Alright, Mells. Here's what we're gonna do. First you're gonna distract a security guard by sticking a clothes tag into some lady's purse.' he grabbed a stick and began drawing in the dirt -to the best of Matt's ability- a diagram of their plot. 'When that alarm goes off the rent-a-cop will be busy trying to go through the old broads bags, so we will have a prime 30 seconds to sneak into the security booth. After that, we search for the video room control panel and the fun begins. he looked at his friend eagerly, blinking the sun out of his olive-colored eyes. "What do you think of it so far?"

"What do you think of it so far?" Mello laughed out loud. "Well, personally, I think you're a silly git. But, since this is your day to make decisions on how we waste our time, this plan sounds perfect so far..." Mello knew Matt would die for his approval, [OOC: FORESHADOWING DX] so no matter how stupid the plan might be, Mello was prepared to go along with it, this time. "Question. Well, actually I have more than one question, I hae a few: Which store are we headed into? How are we getting the tag? Who is going to distract the woman? I don't intend on getting arrested by a mall cop, not today...heh." Mello chuckled to himself. In his mind, he could see Matt as a perfect distraction for any woman. He was extremely attractive, and looked much older than he was, especially with a cigarette between his lips. Just walking into the store, glancing around, and messing his hair was definitely enough to get anyones attention. Besides, no matter how much he hated to admit it, Mello was sometimes confused with a girl, and that would ruin half the plan today.
