Matt continued to eat his food, slowing his pace so that he could now actually taste the food. "I loves the tacos. So much!! near should be okay, he's got his puzzles to keep him occupied while we eat." Matt shoved a few nachos into his mouth, crunching against his teeth obnoxiously. "Mello." Matt said warily a few moments later. "Just reminding that we need to get some chocolate for tonight and detention." Matt grinned mischeiviously and then laughed. Matt began working on his second plate, and once he was done with that he yawned loudly. "you done?" he asked.

"Er..." Mello looked down at his half empty first plate. "Yeah, why not...." He patted his stomach, and pushed his plate away. The rest of the day flew by, and before they knew it, it was eight o'clock, and the two boys were heading off to Rogerdodger's office, their pockets bulging with chocolate and cookies and smokes. "Matt, I don't how you expect to pull off smoking in L's office. I doubt he'll allow you to poison yourself..." Mello commented. "Or the rest of us..." He sighed. Walking around the corridors at night for some reason made him so tired, more tired then it would in the daytime. He prayed he would be able to stay awake all night with L and Matt. The corridors also made him feel uneasy at night. Most people didn't know it, actually only Matt knew, that Mello was severely afraid of the dark. It was just one of those things that you picked up when you were young that sticks with you forever. Mello was glad to have Matt walking through the halls with him. They evetually made it to the office. "Okay, Roger. We're here-" Mello looked around. "Roger?" The old man was no where to be found. Mello looked at the clock on the wall. 8:00..no, now 8:01. "Okay, something's up. Roger is NEVER late. Especially when he's giving out detentions. Especially when he's giving US detention." He added.

Near slipped quietly out of his bedroom. He had gained a hungry pang in his stomach, and was heading to the kitchen- well sneaking to the kitchen. As vulgar as his act was, he knew it must be done for he would not sleep without a nibble of food to satiate his growling stomach. Shuffling through the halls, he twirled a finger in his hair and sighed. He would return to finish a puzzle he'd done for the upteenth time. It was not his favorite, and the albino boy was hoping to recieve, buy, or find a new puzzle soon.
Hearing voices, Near recognized them as Matt and Mello's. Blinking his grey eyes, the boy peered into the room off to his right. Mello was grumbling about something, Matt at hsi side, standing quietly. Roger had not shown up? Well, it was only natural, at this hour. He had heard that two children of Wammy's disappeared. "I do not expect he will come tonight." Near spoke in his monotone voice, coming up behind the duo. "Earlier, two children of Wammy's disappeared. Currently, they are being searched for- and it seems that a kidnapping was at play." He explained softly, looking between Matt and Mello curiously. Had they not heard this?
OOC- should I have blue disappear? it would give me more time to play near, although i was hoping blue could like feel out the actions of the kidnapper and read hsi personality or something crazy.

Mello jumped at the sound of Near behind him and Matt, then turned around to face him. "Oh, it's just you. God, kid, you scared the Jesus out of me. Sorry about lunch before by the way, something, er, something came up..." He shrugged slightly. "WHAT?! Two kids have gone missing?! Holy shit are you serious?! How do you know?! Who were the kids?! How come no one told ME anything!??! Shouldn't L have summoned us or something?!?!?" Mello took a deep breath. He often flipped out and had lately been working on controlling his outbursts (ahem....sort of unsuccessfully). "Well, I'm going to find L. He should be able to tell us everything we need to know." He turned and headed to the door of Roger's office. "You coming, Matty?"
{OOC: I, personally, think Blue should disappear...forever!!! HAHAHAHA!! no seriously tho, she pisses me off a lot, like im not even kidding lol. She'll be sleeping with the fishies...ill make you an offer you cant refuse hahahalmao...naw have her as one the kidnapeees}

Near blinked at Mello, shrugging. To him it did not matter, he had started a certain puzzle and was working on finishing it. "I know because Roger had said so in the hallway on his way out. He was talking to L, who had returned to his room after the conversation." He replied smoothly, remembering the look of pure panic on the old man's face as he scurried through the hallways. Near did not reply to any of the other questions, except for which students had disappeared from Wammy's. Inwardly, Near cringed. "It was Mavis who disappeared first- went missing late last night. Then this morning ..." He trailed off, looking from the redhead to the blonde. "Matt won't like this but Blue was reported missing from the lunch room today." He finished, staring up at the taller boys with a look of calm curiousness on his face.

"don't worry, Mello dearest," Matt sighed lovingly as he stroked his friends cheek. "With my covert ninja skills he'll never even know." Matty winked and then pulled up the sleeve of his favorite black and white striped shirt, revealing what was two patches attached to his skin. "nicotine patch, Roger had a stock of them from way back. Had em ever since, so i finally found a use for em. And i've got that gum too." He reached into his pocket and then grabbed a peice of gum out and popped it into his mouth. "Yum, tobacco covered up with mint. My favorite." a grin escaped from his lips as he followed his blonde friend will continue more later! promise!! <3

Matt whipped out his gameboy after a few minutes of waiting for Roger. "Old fart is probably having bowel movement issues." he replied under his breathe, and noticed near out of the corner of his eye, his expression grave. Matt tried to pay attention but he was on a bonus level and mario cart that he had just created (hacking, you know how it is). Half of the conversation when in and out of his ears, he heard a few words like "missing...children.. Blue.." wait.. did Cottonball just say what he thought he did.. "Blue.....?" he asked warily, accidentally dropping the gameboy in shock. he picked it up with cat-like reflexes and then followed closely behind Mello. "c'mon ,Mello!" he replied a little urgently and mumbled a small 'thank you' to near.

[Matty, that was craptastic]
Mello turned and strutted down the darkened corridor in the direction of L's office. He glanced over his shoulder as he walked away "I'm sure L wouldn't mind if you came too, Near. If he needs any sort of assistance, which I doubt he will, he'll prolly send for you anyway." Mello smirked silently to himself and heard Matt's feet hitting the floor behind him. L was the greatest detective in the world-- actually the greatest THREE (not many people knew that tho) but Mello could not help but imagine L never finding Blue. It would eliminate the remaining competition fot Matt. Even though Matt pledged his loyalty yaddayadda, they still both had to grow up. What then? Adults always had the tendency of returning to what they new first when they got older...would that mean Matt would go back to Blue? With Blue gone, Matt would never have to think of her, and Mello wouldn't have to worry about it. "No, no, no, that's a terrible thing to think. Matt would be upset at the loss of his...former friend. But then again, he didn't miss her openly before she arrived at Wammy's.... But Matt didn't really show mushy emotion like that anyways, so how would I know? No, I should just trust Matt's loyalty to me and the fact that I'm his best friend....yeah." Mello rounded the corner that led to the dead-end hallway of L's office, where he had been only a few hours before. He stopped outside the door, like always, and took a deep breath. Raising a black silohuette arm, he let his fist fall gently against the wood a few times.

Near said nothing, merely following the two in an awkward silence. Matt seemed nervous, or agitated if you will- though Mello seemed irritated. Of course, Near paid no attention to this, as the blonde was always somewhat aggrivated. Shuffling down the hall, the albino boy curled a lock of hair between his index finger and his thumb, his eyes dialated and thoughtful. They ended up in front of L's office, the door shut as usual, and the hallway dimly lit. Mello reached up to knock on the door a few times, and the trio waited for the world's greatest detective to emerge.
Meanwhile, Near was thinking. Mavis and Blue were both gone. Near knew Mavis was the number one musical genius in Wammy's, whereas Blue was the number one psychological genius. Mello was the number one logical genius. Near was the number one mathematical genius. Matt was the number one electronical genius. If the pattern kept moving, number one to number one, it would be taking out all the top students competing for L's name. If the pattern kept moving, they were next. Well, that wasn't a reassuring thought by any means. Near blinked, looking at Matt, and then Mello, and then L's door. "There seems to be a pattern. If Blue and Mavis were the top psychological and musical geniuses in this building, then you can start to see a pattern forming." Near's monotone voice seemed eerie in the dim light and situation at hand. Near had explained- but would Mello and Matt understand the danger was closer to home than they realized?

A soft knock on L's wooden door made him look up. He blinked, swiveling around and climbing off of his office chair with a lollipop in his mouth. It was one of those rainbow ones, large and tasty- his favorite. Like a hunchback, the genius tottered to the door, grasping the handle with long fingers and pulling the door open. There stood number one, number two, and number three in Wammy's. Near, Mello, and Matt. Watching them with his black eyes, L noticed a few things different. Near looked more thoughtful than usual, curling his hair in his fingers. Mello seemed agitated, as if fighting a mental battle by the look on his face. And Matt ... He was not even playing his gameboy. The elder man sighed knowingly.
"You've come about the disappearances, am I correct?"

"Of course we did! We are here to assist in the investigation." Mello stated formally. "We figure that four heads are better than one, even though your genius still completely overshadows our still-developing, young minds." The blonde couldn't resist brown-nosing, even at a time like this. He glanced around L in the doorway, then behind him into the creepy blackness of the corridor, and then back at L. He had hoped the thin man would get the hint that he wanted to enter his office, but like always, such things flew right over L's head. In an investigation of a crime, nothing could get past L's keen mind, but when it came to a simple, every-day gesture: FORGET IT. Mello figured it was due to his lack of social skills....well, at least he wasn't as bad as Near. 'Ah, what the hell....' Mello figured he'd give it one last try as to not be rude. He looked through the doorway once more, and back to his mentor, widening his eyes and slightly nodding his head. When that still didn't work, Mello simply cleared his throat once and brushed past the detective and into the dimly light office. He knew he wouldn't have liked it of someone entered HIS room so rudely, (which he'd already experienced, thanks to Blue...) but seeing as they would probably have been standing there for quite some time, it had to be done. Mello strode towards L's desk speaking over his shoulder. "Actually, L, we've already been discussing the disappearances. On the way over here, we noticed a pattern in the statuses of the kids who were taken. Could this be some sort of serial kidnapping?" Mello asked, turning on his heel to face L again. Even though he wasn't the one to voice that observation in the hall, he couldn't pass up an opportunity to impress L.

L was mildly surprised that the three were already into mulling over the novel case. Mello seemed more than eager to assist, though Near was merely idle in the background. Matt of course would want to offer some sort of help, after all one of the disappeared happened to be a long lost friend of his. "If it was a serial kidnapping, then we'd best look for clues, unless you have a greater idea?" L mumbled, his thumbnail between his lips as he nibbled on its tip. A pattern, they say? "What is this pattern you three have already discussed, Mello?" He inquired coolly, his black eyes unreadable as he gazed at the boldest of the trio.
