Blue screeched in defiance when Mello lifted her up and dragged her out of the room. She found it useless to use force, as the punch only got her this far. Skirting around her anger, she focused on a different tactic. This oen was sure to piss him off, but it would get him thinking anyhow. She sighed, and didn't struggle, merely smirking to herself. "You seem tense, you're shoulders are rigid. You're ... How should we say? Nervous. Why are you nervous? Is this anger the most obvious sign of childhood trauma that you're worried I'd figure it out?" She spoke calmly, and somewhat loftily. When she was placed on her bottom, she grinned slyly at the blonde. "Is anger all you knew? Were your parents constantly angry?" She asked, truly curious, but also as an effect to anger the blonde who'd angered her.
Near sat in the chair, his grey eyes wide with anxiety as he watched Blue and Mello have at it. Blue swung a punch to Mello's face, and near could not help but be impressed. Not many people were crazy or confident enough to pull such an act, to Mello no less. And what's more, she got away virtually unscathed. He blinked when she was dragged out of the room, talking about the mind of Mello, and then he cringed when the blonde screamed into the pillow for a good long ten seconds. He frowned slightly, furrowing his brows at Mello's question. He did not know why- but whatever Mello saw that was bad in Blue, Near thought it was nto so bad.
"I just didn't know her is all." He spoke quietly, his eyes darting around the room serenly. "Why do you dislike her so much? She didn't mean any harm first." He questioned, though he certainly did not agree with the punch and the shouts fo abuse towards Mello. It seemed the temper got the best of her, as it did soemtimes with the blonde before him. There was something odd about the girl, though, abotu Blue. Maybe Mello was right to be worried about her psychological knowledge.

"Tch, I don't know. Just the fact that she would just barge in here and act all bad ass was annoying. I don't know who she was showing off in front of...unless...Nevermind. She's just a little punk, that's all. I'm glad I didn't fly off the handle though. Jeez she knew how to make me mad. That's kind of scary, actually. I wouldn't doubt she could make even YOU angry, Near." Mello chuckled. "I wonder if L knows about her erm...talents. I'm sure he does. I bet he would set her straight. She seems to have a severe lack of respect. I'd love to see her try to pull that crap on L. He would melt her brain." He laughed again. He noticed Near still thinking over this girl...He could tell by the way it didn't look like he was even listening...but then again, when was that different from any other time, when he was, to a degree, distracted by his numerous toys. Anyhow, this was definately a different sort of daydream-like state. Mello tilted his head to the side. "She puzzles you, doesn't she? Ha! Near the puzzler, puzzled? This IS a weird day..." He glanced over at Matt, who hadn't moved all this time. "Well, not totally out of the ordinary, heh." He nudged his best friend, who appeared to be in a trance of sorts.

"She is puzzling because she is not like you two. What she feels is hidden, and she knows how to hide it." Near twirled his hair, grey eyes glazed as she stared at nothing, thinking. "She spends too much time trying to ... help others I suppose that she doesn't help herself. I gues, although I am not all sure she needs consoling for any reason." He thought aloud, resting his chin on his drawn-up knee. He blinked at last, and looked at Mello.
"You might want to trust her more than you think." He continued. "Her talent here is unlike most others who are simply mathematical genuises. Have you ever wished to get something off of your chest?" He murmured, looking down at his feet. Wiggling his toes, Near knew he had something that ate at him each day- and that same thing bothered most all orphans here. The death of their parents- and the stories behind it. How many did that girl know? Did it make her dangerous?

Mello now understood where Near was coming from. "Well, whenever I need to talk to someone, I just talk to Matt. And he doesn't have to listen (and frankly I dont think he does...)" Mello glanced over at his hypnotized friend, "..But it makes me feel the same as telling someone like L, who'll have an answer for everything. I also talk to God a lot. Sometimes I don't think He hears me, and that He doesn't care, since He took my family...but in the back of my mind I know He hears..." Mello shrugged off the hazy feeling he was getting from talking about emotional subjects. And of all people to be telling! He would never have pictured himself having this converstion with Near if it hadn't been for his chat with L this morning. Mello absentmindedly cleared his throat and looked over at the clock. "Holy....it's almost lunch time. Wow this morning flew by....Well I need to get out of my pajamas," He looked down, disgusted at his failure to get dressed this morning, "and get this kid moving," he nodded his head in Matt's direction "so I'll meet you in the lunch room?" Mello rose and walked to the door, opening it for Near to leave for lunch.

Near listened to Mello's words, surprised that such a confession would be emerging from his rvial's mouth, to him of all children here at the orphanage. What the blonde said was true, and even though Near himself was sure Matt only listened at most half the time, he was still there. But not everyone had a Matt. "I see what you mean. But what if a person has no Matt or no one to talk to? Some children here are ... rather lonely." Near spoke quietly, thinking of A who seemed to have little people surrounding him, or of B who unconciously pushed everyone away. He thought of R who was too new here to have deep friendships, or even of Blue. Did Blue have anyone to talk to?
Near got to his feet, sliding off the chair at Mello's gesture to leave the room. "Yes, meet you in the lunch room." He shuffled towards the door, looking up and blinking his grey eyes in surprise when he saw Blue still standing there, although it looked as if she was oblivious to all conversations occuring in the room. The girl was sitting down, her head bent low as she read a book- a heavy one by the looks of it. Catching glimpses of words, he noticed it was a book on psychology. Should he have guessed? Looking back, Near wondered if Mello would react- or just slam the door once more.

Mello closed the door and turned around to face Matt. "Well...that was interesting.....y'know, I never thought that kid could carry on a decent conversation, but now I realize the only reason I thought that was because I had never even tried to have a conversation with him.....huh.." Mello pondered, grabbing a pair of black skinny jeans out f his dresser drawer. "And then that Blue girl...What is her problem anyway? Of all rooms, why would she come to ours? And on the day that Near is here? I think somethings up. That girl is definately trouble, so I don't want you hanging around her. Matt, I don't want you hanging around her, I said. MATT. Please look at me and acknowledge my existance when I'm talking to you!" Mello huffed and pulled on his pants, then an old band tee. He looked over at Matt once again. "C'mon! Let's get a move on or we're gonna be late for lunch!"

Matt peered up from his PSP and blinked. "I was listening.. Honest. You know, Mello, I think Near may be right. Blue just might want to make friends. Or they're both trying to trick us and take over Wammy's with the aliens, I hear they're plotting aswell nowadays."He laughed lightly at his last sentence and then turned off his PSP, his stomach growlng in protest. Eating was one of the only times when Matt wasn't zoned into his electronics, or if he knew he needed to pay attention to something, obviously. He stood up and then a wicked smile was plastered across his face as he tapped his friends shoulder. "Last one there has to get the chocolate by themselves tonight, dressed as a lady.. Oh wait.. You already are.." Matt couldn't help but laugh as he teased his friend, since he knew how much it angered Mello to be refered to as a woman. Matt took off out of their room , whipping around the halls as his friend chased after him.

Blue sat in the hall grudgingly, leaning against the wall and reading a book on psychology. Absorbed in it, she was surprised to see boys start walking down the hall, on their way to lunch. Had time passed that quickly, then? Frowning, she held her book lower- her green gaze scanning the hallway. She saw Near towards the end, emerging from his room and shutting the door quietly. He held a Fifteen Puzzle in his right hand, another handheld puzzle. Blinking, she looked around some more. She had finished her book ... Should she return it to the library- or go to lunch? Torn, the girl stood in dead center of the hallway, confused as to what to do next.
She watched as the door to the room she had been in the doorway of, Mello's room, swung open. Blinking, she saw the redhead boy leap out into the hall with a smirk on his face and begin running towards the lunchroom. Why did he seem so familiar? Rubbing her nose, she felt her stomache growl angrily- and sighed. Lunch it was for now then, she'd have to return her book afterwards.
Near saw the door shut and nodded to himself. All teh better, Mello would be in a better mood if the girl did not coem to his sight once more so soon. Beginning to shuffle towards his own room, she watched Blue for a second. She was too absorbed in her book to notice much- and he blinked- scooting down the hall until he reached his room. There, he opened the door, slipping inside before shutting it quietly. His room was as bland as ever- all white. But Near liked it. Skittering over to his desk, he replaced his rubik's cube- now finished, with a fifteen puzzle, which he pocketed.
Those games were always fun, sometimes more fun because of the numbers in place of colors. Near liked mathematics and all sorts of numbers and equations, so it was only just that he would enjoy this puzzle more than a color-cube. Turning around, he walked idly towards his door once more, having no other deed to do to prepare for lunch. Twirling his hair with his left hand index finger, and holding the fifteen puzzle in his right hand, he sighed, letting his left hand fall a bit so he could twist the handle to open his door. Emerging, he shut the door behind him, before scuttling down the hall once, back where he came.
At the risk of looking odd, he began to shift around the pieces of the fifteen puzzle, and found it was not so easy with over twenty numbers, instead of the original fifteen. Walking idly, he looked up to see Matt thrusting himself into the hall, laughing, before zooming off. He must have triggered Mello's anger point with a joking tease again, by the looks of it. Mello had not errupted from the room yet- he must nto have understood or was not finished getting himself set for lunch. Blinking, he looked to see Blue standing in the hallway, dead-center. She seemed to be thinking, while she inched one way before shaking her head and turning to look over her shoulder at the other.
At last she stuffed a book she had been reading into her bag and turned about on her heels, as if deciding to go to lunch. Passing her, Near nodded and tried to give a slight smile, though he was nto sure how effective his attempt was.

"WHA-?!! I AM NOT DRESSED LIKE A LADY!!!" Mello howled after Matt, who had flown from the room faster than you can say 'sex?'. He tried to pull his boot on quickly, causing him to flop over on his butt. "OWW!! Frickin....screw it!!" He threw the boots to the side and ran out in his socks after Matt. He was not going to lose in a foot race to a kid who sits around all day playing video games..... Mello was a good runner, and could definately beat Matt to the lunch room, so he took off out of the room in a full on sprint. Although, he didn't have as good of traction as he would have had with his boots on, he was still able to cruise through the halls with ease. Mello past kids who were also heading to lunch, while yelling taunts to Matt, who he could see up ahead, and who he was coming closer to each second. They turned the corner, and hit the last straightaway heading to the lunch room. With one last blast of energy, Mello leapt forward and tackled Matt from behind, causing them to skid down the rest of the length of the hallway, leaving them a tangled mess in front of the mess hall doors. "HA!" Mello sat up, panting from his lost energy. "Now what, Matty?!?!" He taunted, tosseling his best friend already messed up hair. Then they heard a voice that did not belong to them..... "I'll tell you what...Both of you, in my office....NOW." Roger walked away down the hallway towards his office, used for the soul purpose of giving out punishments for 'naughty children'. "Oh crap...Matty, see what you got me into?" Mello laughed to show he was joking. "C'mon..." Mello helped up Matt as he spoke "We better hurry, the old fart hasn't got much time left ..." He stated, roaring into laughter as both boys trudged down the hallway they had so many times before to recieve their punishment for misbehaving.
{OOC: okay, i'm just gonna control Rogerdodger right now, cause i want to and since no one has claimed him (who would? lol) im not gonna claim him, just borrowing him really...i think that he should be just an everyones character, and that whoever needs to use him can, as long as its consistant and as long as there are no arguements about it. all in favor say "mello is d**nawesomesexy" tehehe...inside joke woo}

(OOC: that he is.. and Roger is evil,, just letting everyone know ^^)
Matt Clutched at his sides from laughing so hard, and when roger had yelled at them he just laughed harder. "If you didn't tackle me i totally woulda won." he managed to say between gasps of breath. 'I definantly am out of shape' he thought sourly as he lifted himself off the ground and readjusted his goggles. "I wonder: If we slit his thoat you think dust would come out?" He chuckled and then followed his friend into Roger's office, and took his customary seat to the left. Matt leaned back in it casually and picked at his fingernails. This was becoming too routine. He quickly glanced at his friend and grinned at him.

Blue smiled at Near, and hurried past him to the lunch room as her stomache growled furiously. Swinging her knit bag over her shoulder neatly, she pushed the door to the mess hall open and skipped in, looking around. A few children glared at her as they closed in around the table, shoving books into the open seats. Sighing with amusement, and a little exasperation, Blue just rolled her eyes and scooted over to en empty table. She emptied her bag, proceeding to spill books everywhere, which she spread out and studied. Picking one to read, she shoved the others aside and grabbed her money, heading to buy a slice of pizza.
Rerturning to her seat, she opened the book, reading on childhood and nature vs nuture. She believed nature had a lot to do with it, unless the entirety of nuture was the polar opposite. Biting into her pizza, she read on, blinking her green eyes at the book. Childhood, it was something she somewhat missed. There was no room to be a child when you were an outcasted genius in an orphanage of other geniuses. Either way she missed it- her family and friends ... and The Jeevases- who were her neighbors back then. They had a son about her age who she'd play with while the parents drank beer and had barbeques. What was his name? Mail, that's right.
Turning the page, she bit another piece off of her pizza, her eyes scanning the words intently. This was so interesting, she thought happily. Continuing to munch on her slice of pizza, Blue felt a conclusion forming in her mind, though it was not the one she'd thought would occur at such a moment. She leaped out of her seat, dropping her pizza on its plate. Her chair screeched in protest as it was sent flying backwards. Oh. My. God. Mail Jeevas was Matt.
Near shuffled into the lunchroom, staring around with grey eyes. Children were chatting and eating and laughing as usual, though someone stood out now. It was none other than the troublemaking girl, Blue. She was staring down at her books and pizza as if they'd grown eyes and noses. Her face was that of surprise and realization, though Near could not fathom what a slice of pizza would arise such awe. Amused, he tottered over to her table, sitting down across from her and staring up at her. She seemed not to have noticed he was there.

Mello strode in behind Matt and took his usual seat on the right. Roger was sitting behind his desk already with his elbows on the desk, hands folded together resting on his chin. He looked up only when they were both seated and quiet. "Boys," he started the same way everytime, "don't you think you're getting too old to be making shenanigans in the hallways?" Oh, that's another thing, he sometimes used old terms, such as 'shenanigans', "You as older students, should set the example for the younger ones. Believe it or not they look up to you, unsettling as that may be...ahem.." Tch- just HAD to add that last little dig, didn't he? At least he didn't say anything about Near this time. Roger favored Near. It was true that Near never really did anything to make him end up in Roger's office, and even though he was on speaking terms with Near right now, he still didn't want to be compared to him in that way. And then, Roger said something he shouldn't have said. "You fellows should try to be more like Near, being obedient, and always having the highest scores-" Mello stood up and put his hands on Roger's desk. "Look, Roger," He said defiantly, "I realize that you are just trying to do your job here, and by all means, who's stopping you from reprimanding us? But just give us our punishment so we can leave because I don't want to hear your stories about how Near is so much better than us. I mean, WE are both runner's up to L as well, and just because we try to have a little harmless fun in this God-forsaken orphanage, that MAYBE will bring a little happiness into our crappy lives, doesn't make us less than him in any way." Mello removed his hands from the desk and sat back down. "Young man, I don't know who you think you are, telling me how to do my job, but if you think that because of that little rucus you put on you will get a lesser punishment, you are most certainly wrong." Roger straightened out a few papers on his desk, having been flustered by Mello's outburst. "You...will be having night chores tonight....with L." Roger said the name with a tone that suggested a hint of dislike, that made Mello glare and crack his knuckles. Everyone, well at least Matt and Mello, knew that Roger was for some reason jealous of, or somehow angry with L. Whether that reason was because he was the one talked about all the time or the fact that when Watari wasn't around, it was Roger's duty to take care of the childlike man, there was something upsetting to Roger about L. " He has just started working on a very important case, and is, well frankly he is not sleeping until he solves it...*sigh* Tonight it is your job to cater to his every need, and assist him as best you can." Roger sneered as if he just gave out the mother of all punishments. Mello, luckily, sensed his plan and played along, for the sake of him and Matt. "NO! Oh my GOD, NOO!!!!" He shrieked in his chair, making it seem like Roger had accomplished what he meant to do, and making the old man sneer even more. "You are to report here at eight o'clock, sharp. And then will be led to L's office. Don't take this task lightly....he gets rather ornery when he doesn't sleep." Roger chuckled at the boys 'unfortunate' job. "You may now go." He dismissed them importantly. When he and Matt and exited the musty office, and were out of earshot, Mello craked up. "He seriously thinks that hanging out with L is a terrible chore? Hell, I was just in there this morning!! Wow, Roger is such an idiot...."

Blue blinked down at her books. Well, that was odd really. Mail and Matt one in the same-huh. Reaching for her knit bag, she squirreled through it, looking for her diary. Rummaging through, she began to panic, and feverntly shut the bag looking around. She noticed Near was there now and politely excused herself. "Excuse me for a second Near..." SHe trailed off, booking out into the hall. Nearly running into Mello and ... Mail she stopped dead, and skirted around them for a moment, racing to where she was sitting before, where she had been writing and reading. Sure enough, there was her diary, laying on the ground untouched.
With a leap she flew over to it, bending low and snatching it off the ground, tucking it between her elbow. Sighing with relief that it had not been stolen, she began trotting back to the mess hall. What should she do about Matt? Though she wanted to tell him who she was, she decided to stay quiet for now. Better not make things messy and confusing if they needn't be. Catching up to Mello and Matt she grinned at them, and slid between them and ahead skipping loftily to the mess hall while her brunette hair swung back and forth from the bounce in her step.

"oh goodness me!!" Matt half screamed when Roger gave them their sentence. When the two boys walked out of the room though, Matt couldn't help but snicker. "L's a nice dude, just not the best to converse with at times." he mumbled under his breath. "WE can get some pointers from him .... So you can beat cottonball" Matt smiled and then his stomach started to gurgle in quite a revolting way.. "Okay.. I need food.. Now!" Matt started heading to the cafeteria and stopped from a second when Blue passed them by and grinned. Matt gave her an odd look and was then lost in that. 'She really does look familiar. Really wish my memory was so crappy.' Matt sighed and then sat at their usual table, saving Mello and his own seat, so no one would take them.

Blue looked over her shoulder, snickering at Mello's pissed expression then turned her gaze to Matt. Well, he looked somewhat confused, though she could not be sure why. Either way she shouldn't care much. He probably didn't even remember her. Whisking back to face forward, she entered the mess hall, flouncing in and sliding into her seat across from Near. "Sorry about that." She apologized, smiling. Little did she know, a picture from her diary had fluttered out, landing on the ground.
Near nodded when Blue left, and waited patiently until her return. It was not long she was out, but enough time for Near to think. A psychological genius, did she have any chance in succeeding L? She did not have the same detective skills, but where her deduction skills one in the same as his? If she could figure out the emotions and the acts of the enemy she might as well be able to predict his further actions, and would onyl be wrong on a very off chance. It was all about the deduction, not how you got there, Near thought. "Welcome back." He spoke softly.
